MARDAN: District Public Health Coordinator Mardan Dr. Rubina Riaz has warned that malaria is a dangerous but preventable disease and stressed the importance of timely precautions, early diagnosis and proper treatment to avoid serious health complications.
In a public awareness message, Dr. Rubina Riaz said the Health Department is conducting an extensive anti-malaria awareness campaign across different areas of Mardan district. The campaign focuses on educating residents about malaria symptoms, causes, prevention and the importance of seeking medical care without delay.
She explained that malaria is transmitted by mosquitoes, making the elimination of mosquito breeding sites a key part of prevention. She urged residents to maintain cleanliness inside and around their homes and ensure that stagnant water does not accumulate in residential areas or neighborhoods.
Dr. Rubina Riaz advised citizens not to ignore symptoms that could indicate malaria and to visit the nearest healthcare facility for proper diagnosis and treatment. She emphasized that early detection and appropriate treatment can help prevent serious complications.
The District Public Health Coordinator said government efforts alone cannot control the spread of malaria. She called on citizens to actively support health teams, share awareness information with their families and communities, and maintain clean surroundings.
She added that malaria awareness activities are continuing throughout Mardan to reach more residents and promote preventive practices. With coordinated efforts between health authorities and the public, the spread of malaria can be reduced significantly.
