MARDAN: Commissioner Mardan Division Habibullah Arif has directed officials to ensure that every child under five years of age receives polio drops during the National Anti-Polio Campaign scheduled for September 21 to 24, 2026.
Chairing a meeting of the Divisional Task Force for Polio Eradication at the Commissioner’s Office, Mardan, Arif ordered strict implementation of the campaign’s master plan to ensure that no child is missed. Officials from the health, police and education departments, security agencies and the World Health Organization (WHO) attended the meeting.
More than 666,000 children targeted
Officials told the meeting that health teams aim to administer polio drops to 403,952 children in Mardan and 262,088 children in Swabi during the four-day campaign.
A total of 1,907 mobile teams have been formed in Mardan and 1,151 in Swabi. In addition, 83 fixed and transit teams will operate in Mardan, while 72 teams have been deployed in Swabi.
The commissioner directed officials to pay particular attention to families refusing vaccination and ensure that no eligible child is left without the vaccine.
He also ordered foolproof security arrangements for polio workers and called for close coordination among all departments involved in the campaign.
Commissioner reviews revenue affairs
Separately, Commissioner Habibullah Arif chaired a divisional meeting on revenue affairs at his office in Mardan, attended by senior administrative and revenue officers from Mardan and Swabi.
Officials briefed the commissioner on government revenue collection, progress toward provincial targets, assigned administrative tasks and the performance of field officers.
Arif directed revenue officers to establish monthly collection targets and develop strategies to meet them. He also called for priority to be given to revenue court cases, mutations, issuance of fards and jamabandis, and Agricultural Income Tax matters.
The commissioner further instructed officials to monitor prices of essential commodities and take action in accordance with the law against artificial price increases.
He urged administrative officers to ensure timely and transparent disposal of public matters, provide relief to citizens and carry out their responsibilities without negligence.
