Mardan Commissioner Calls for Decisive Action Against Drug Peddlers

MARDAN: Commissioner Mardan Division Nisar Ahmed has said that the scourge of drugs is causing the destruction of our future and our new generation, decisive action against drug peddlers is the need of the hour in which administration, police, excise and agencies have to play their role honestly. He was addressing a meeting of the Divisional Level Action Committee against Narcotics. Regional Police Officer Najeeb ur Rahman Bagwi, Deputy Commissioner Mardan Dr. Azmatullah Wazir, Secretary to Commissioner Sara Tawab, Director Narcotics Control Excise, Additional Deputy Commissioners, representatives of public universities of Mardan and Swabi, officers of social welfare department and intelligence agencies were present in the meeting. In the meeting, the campaign against drugs, especially ice, was reviewed in detail in Mardan and Swabi. The representatives of Abdul Wali Khan University, Engineering University Mardan, GIK Swabi and University of Swabi who participated in the meeting explained the details of the drug awareness campaign in the relevant institutions and said that there is a system to monitor the students in the universities under which visitors are monitored. Social welfare officers of Mardan and Swabi informed the meeting about the performance of drug rehabilitation centers in the respective districts. Commissioner Mardan Division Nisar Ahmed directed the officers of both districts to provide them with a detailed report in this regard within two weeks. He said that all institutions have to work together to end the scourge of drugs. We have to rid society of the scourge of drugs that is eroding our roots. He said that a heavy responsibility is imposed on the people in this regard. People should mark these merchants of death so that the relevant institutions can bring them to justice.
