DURBAN: South Africa’s Marco Jansen produced one of the standout fielding moments of the first ODI against Australia, taking a spectacular one-handed diving catch to dismiss Matt Renshaw.
The extraordinary dismissal came in the 37th over when Renshaw attempted to pull a short delivery from Gerald Coetzee toward deep midwicket. The ball appeared destined to clear the field, but Jansen sprinted across and launched himself toward it.
Stretching his right hand at full length, Jansen managed to grab the ball just inches above the ground while sliding across the turf. He maintained control to complete a clean catch, ending Renshaw’s innings for 44 off 49 balls, including six fours.
The catch came at a crucial stage of Australia’s chase, with the visitors on 215 for seven. Australia eventually collapsed to 230 all out, handing South Africa a 67-run victory in Durban.
Jansen also made a major contribution with the bat, scoring 75 off 59 balls, while taking one wicket and four catches during the match.
