Libyan military chief and PM meet Field Marshal Asim Munir at GHQ

RAWALPINDI: Libyan Commander-in-Chief Field Marshal Khalifa Abu-al-Qasim Haftar and Prime Minister Dr. Osama Saad Hammad met Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, at General Headquarters on Sunday.

The meeting focused on regional security dynamics and explored avenues for professional military cooperation between Pakistan and Libya. Both sides discussed the evolving security landscape in their respective regions and emphasized the importance of sustained engagement between the armed forces of the two countries.

Field Marshal Asim Munir welcomed the Libyan delegation and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for peace, stability, and institutional development in Libya, highlighting the value of continued defence-level collaboration.

The discussions were described as cordial and constructive, reflecting the longstanding friendly ties between Pakistan and Libya.

Earlier, upon arrival at Noor Khan Airbase, Field Marshal Haftar was received by Field Marshal Asim Munir. The Libyan military chief also paid homage to the martyrs and laid a wreath at the Martyrs’ Memorial at GHQ.
