Addressing the media outside Parliament House, Khawaja Asif said that Faiz Hamed was the number one person who brought former Prime Minister Imran Khan to power. The cooperation started before the 2018 elections and remained unchanged on May 9. If the evidence comes out, things could go in a different direction.
Khawaja Asif said PTI was given a big boost in the 2018 elections, with Faiz Hamed playing a role in the Senate chairmanship and other elections. He said only time would tell how political opponents were crushed and looted. He also asked that many civilians were tried in military courts during the PTI rule, why PTI leaders did not call the security personnel martyrs.
He said, during the PTI era, opponents were jailed, false cases were made against them and their families, and there was corruption involving a major businessman linked to the PTI founder and his wife.
Earlier, in the House of Representatives, Khawaja Asif said there were differences with PTI’s various statements. He claimed that Bushra Bibi was abandoned by her own people, but she was with PTI members when they fled D Chowk.
Khawaja Asif also alleged that Ali Amin Gandapur’s guards shot at his workers, government officials and policemen who were brought from KP. He said that the Chief Minister of KP is responsible for maintaining peace in his province but let it fail for the third time in Islamabad.
The defense minister further said that the PTI has started playing the provincial card. He recalled that 10 years ago the founder of PTI had called for civil disobedience which no one heeded.
He said today no Pakistani will refuse to pay utility bills or stop sending remittances to Pakistani families abroad.
