The law and order situation in Islamabad has raised fresh concerns after a senior officer of the Capital Development Authority, posted at the Presidency, was robbed of Rs100,000 in broad daylight last month.

According to details, Muhammad Tariq withdrew Rs200,000 from a National Bank branch in the Melody area on January 23 and was waiting for the Metro Bus when occupants of a white Mehran car offered him a ride to Ghori Town. Trusting them, he boarded the vehicle. Upon reaching Faizabad, the suspects allegedly snatched Rs100,000 from his pocket and pushed him out of the moving car when he resisted, causing injuries.

The victim said he immediately sought help from traffic police officials present at the scene, but they declined to assist, telling him it was not their responsibility and advising him to approach the relevant police station. He later contacted police helpline 15, after which the SP Office and SHOs of Abpara and Khanna police stations initiated action.

Police officials later traced the vehicle and suspects using CCTV footage. On January 29, Muhammad Tariq was informed that the suspects had been arrested; however, the looted amount has not yet been recovered.

Expressing serious concerns over police response and delays, the victim has appealed to Ali Nasir Rizvi, Inspector General of Police Islamabad, to take notice of the incident. He has urged authorities to ensure recovery of his hard-earned money and called for increased patrolling on highways to improve public safety in the federal capital.

The incident has once again highlighted growing concerns among citizens over street crime and policing in Islamabad.
