Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: A tree plantation campaign has been formally launched at Molvi Amir Shah Memorial Hospital and Women and Children’s Hospital. This initiative has been undertaken in collaboration with the Talib Ali Memorial Foundation and the Forest Department. The campaign was inaugurated by the hospital’s Medical Superintendent (MS), Dr. Sher Khan Afridi, along with Chief Pathologist and Warden Imtiaz, accompanied by hospital staff.
During the inauguration ceremony, Dr. Sher Khan Afridi expressed his gratitude to the Talib Ali Memorial Foundation and the Forest Department for their support. He emphasized that, alongside patient care, ensuring a green and healthy environment in the hospital is a top priority. He highlighted the growing impact of climate change, which is rapidly affecting lives, leading to air and water pollution and an increase in viral infections. Rising temperatures and environmental degradation are particularly harmful to children and the elderly, weakening their immune systems.
Dr. Afridi urged every individual in society to take responsibility by planting at least 10 trees and ensuring their proper care. He stressed the need for collective efforts to mitigate the adverse effects of climate change. He further reaffirmed the hospital’s commitment to continuing the tree plantation drive, aiming to create a greener and healthier environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
This campaign is not just an environmental initiative but also a step towards improving public health by fostering a fresh and serene atmosphere within hospital premises.
