Locals Foil Suicide Attack on Mosque in Lakki Marwat

LAKKI MARWAT: Local residents foiled a suicide attack by a Khawarij operative targeting a mosque during Friday prayers in the Khairo Khel Pakka area of Lakki Marwat on Friday, according to local sources.

Sources said the attacker was attempting to reach the mosque and carry out a suicide bombing when local citizens intervened and successfully neutralized him before he could enter the premises.

However, explosives attached to the attacker’s motorcycle detonated during the incident, resulting in the martyrdom of a five-year-old girl and injuries to five other people, including children.

The injured were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment, while security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation.

According to local sources, the attacker belonged to the Khawarij. Authorities are continuing investigations and collecting evidence from the scene.

The attempted attack triggered strong anger among local residents, who condemned the targeting of worshippers gathered for Friday prayers.
