Also known as “Lake Asale, the Lake Karum is located in northeastern Ethiopia. It is part of the African Rift Valley and lies below sea level. Abundance of minerals and salts present in water of the lake has turned its colour to green. For centuries, salt was extracted from the salt flats surrounded by the lake and the site is an important cultural and geographical site.
It is also attractive for the tourists because the scenery here is unusual and breathtaking, showcasing a diverse array of natural phenomena.
