Lahore — April 4, 2026: Lahore Police have stepped up enforcement of tenancy laws across the provincial capital, arresting hundreds of individuals and registering numerous cases as part of a broader effort to address security concerns linked to unregistered tenants.

According to a spokesperson for Lahore Police, at least 700 individuals have been arrested and 360 cases registered so far this year for violations of tenancy regulations.

Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana said the presence of unregistered tenants poses a serious security risk, emphasizing that compliance with tenant registration laws is a shared responsibility of both landlords and tenants.

He noted that the tenant registration system has significantly aided law enforcement agencies in identifying and monitoring criminal elements, as well as tracing habitual offenders and individuals with prior criminal records.

“The system has proved effective in strengthening surveillance and enhancing public safety,” the CCPO said, adding that strict action will continue against those who fail to comply with legal requirements.

Police officials warned that indiscriminate action would be taken against individuals providing accommodation to illegal or suspicious persons, stressing that no negligence or leniency would be tolerated in this regard.

Authorities have urged citizens to ensure timely registration of tenants to avoid legal action and contribute to maintaining law and order in the city.
