LAHORE: The Punjab Cabinet has approved a proposal to change the dates for Basant celebrations in Lahore, with the festival now scheduled for March 12 to 14, 2027.
According to sources, the Punjab Cabinet approved the revised schedule following a summary submitted for changing the dates of Basant in Lahore.
The proposal to revise the Basant schedule was initially sent by the Deputy Commissioner Lahore to the Punjab Home Department. The Home Department subsequently forwarded the summary to the provincial cabinet for approval.
The Punjab government had earlier announced that Basant would be celebrated over a 10-day period from January 29 to February 7, 2027. However, following the approval of the revised schedule, the celebrations will now take place on March 12, 13 and 14, 2027.
The new dates mean that the Basant festival in Lahore will be held in March 2027.
A resolution opposing the decision to lift the ban on Basant has also been submitted in the Punjab Assembly.
