Arif Hameed, a resident of Bari Cham, said that lack of basic medical facilities at the District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) has put the lives of citizens at risk. Talking to the reporters he said that he immediately reached DHQ Hospital after feeling severe chest pain early yesterday morning. He added that the hospital staff suggested him for an ECG, but when he reached the ECG room, the staff lying in the AC unit there told him that the machine had run out of paper.
He added that he was in severe pain, he was later shifted to Mardan Medical Complex (MMC) in severe pain, where ECG and other tests confirmed that he had suffered a heart attack. Arif Hameed has demanded from the provincial government, Health Advisor Ehtesham Ali Advocate and other responsible officials that the absence of emergency facilities in an important medical center like DHQ Hospital is worrisome. He demanded that an immediate inquiry be conducted against the medical superintendent of the hospital and the staff involved in negligence, while the hospital be equipped with life-saving medicines, machinery and basic facilities immediately.
