KUWAIT CITY — Kuwait International Airport was targeted by multiple unmanned aerial vehicles early Thursday, causing property damage but no casualties, Kuwait’s General Civil Aviation Authority said.

Authorities said the Kuwait International Airport drone attack resulted in material damage to airport facilities, but no injuries were reported and emergency protocols were activated.

Abdullah al-Rajhi, official spokesman for the General Civil Aviation Authority, told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the incident was handled under the emergency response plan implemented since the start of the regional crisis.

“The General Civil Aviation Authority was targeted this morning by several unmanned aircraft. The attack caused material damage only and no human casualties were recorded,” Rajhi said.

He added that aviation authorities continue to implement security and safety measures to protect civil aviation infrastructure in the country.

The incident comes amid a broader escalation of military operations in the Middle East after Israel and the United States launched joint strikes on Iran on Feb. 28. Iran has since responded with drone and missile attacks targeting military installations and infrastructure across the region.

Kuwait has been among the countries affected during the conflict, with airports and energy facilities considered critical infrastructure in the Gulf region.

According to casualty reports from the wider escalation, approximately 1,300 people have been killed since the conflict intensified at the end of February.
