ISTANBUL: Turkish actor Serhat Mustafa Kilic, known for portraying Mikhail Kosses in the popular historical drama Kurulus Osman, has been found dead at his apartment in Istanbul.
The 51-year-old actor was found unresponsive by his friend Ozlem E. at his apartment in Istanbul’s Kağıthane district on September 5.
According to the report, Ozlem had been trying to contact Kilic since September 3. Unable to reach him, she went to his apartment to check on him.
She found the actor sitting motionless in a chair inside a room and contacted emergency services after discovering that he was not breathing. Medical teams arrived at the scene and confirmed his death.
Ozlem reportedly told police that Kilic had been suffering from lymphatic cancer.
Police have launched an investigation into the actor’s death. Initial examination reportedly found no apparent signs of physical assault or open wounds.
His body was subsequently taken to a hospital for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
Born in 1975, Kilic began his acting career in theatre in 1998. He later appeared in several well-known Turkish television productions, including Söz, Kurulus Osman and Mehmed: Fetihler Sultani.
His film Küçük Yürek reportedly won an award at the Cannes Film Festival in 2014, further establishing his career in Turkish cinema and television.
Kilic’s death has prompted an outpouring of grief among fans of Turkish dramas in Türkiye and abroad.
