PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has formed a high-level working group to address electricity-related problems affecting industries across the province’s economic zones.
The move is intended to improve power reliability for industrial consumers, strengthen investor confidence and support business growth in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The initiative has been launched through the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zones Development and Management Company in coordination with the Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organisation.
The working group will develop practical and sustainable solutions for industries facing power shortages, supply disruptions and administrative delays related to electricity services.
Government, Industry Representatives Join Forum
The group includes Energy and Power Minister Syed Fakhar Jehan, Adviser to the Chief Minister on Industries and Commerce Humayun Khan, members of the national and provincial assemblies, representatives of industrial consumers, senior PEDO officials and the chief executive officer of KPEZDMC.
Participants reviewed the main electricity challenges facing industries and agreed that closer coordination was needed to improve supply, resolve complaints and speed up decision-making.
The forum will also provide a regular platform for government departments, energy agencies and industrial representatives to discuss emerging issues and agree on workable solutions.
Reliable Power Seen as Key to Industrial Growth
Humayun Khan said dependable electricity was essential for industrial productivity, investor confidence and sustainable economic growth.
He said the provincial government would continue working with relevant departments and the business community to improve the investment environment and make it easier for industries to operate in the province.
KPEZDMC said the working group would bring policymakers, implementing agencies and industrial consumers onto one platform.
The company said coordinated institutional action could help improve the ease of doing business, strengthen industrial facilitation and restore investor confidence in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s economic zones.
