PESHAWAR: Prominent religious scholars from across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa met under the auspices of the Provincial Intelligence Fusion and Threat Assessment Center (PIFTAC) to discuss the role of scholars in preventing extremism and promoting peace in society.
The meeting focused on strategies for countering violent extremism and fostering a peaceful social environment. Scholars emphasized the importance of education, dialogue, and community engagement as key tools to address extremist tendencies.
Participants including Maulana Ehsan-ul-Haq, Maulana Hussain Ahmed, Maulana Merajuddin Sarkani, Allama Abid Hussain Shakeri, and Maulana Obaid Sheikh took part in the discussions.
The scholars deliberated on madrassa registration, strengthening organizational systems, and enhancing coordination with formal educational institutions, including colleges and universities. They highlighted the need to integrate contemporary education with religious teachings to better address social challenges.
Reaffirming their categorical condemnation of all forms of violence and terrorism, the participants stressed that dialogue, education, and mutual understanding are essential for countering extremism and promoting lasting peace in society.
