Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly witnessed heated exchanges and repeated interruptions on Tuesday as Opposition Leader Dr Ibadullah strongly criticized the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), alleging that the party is being controlled by the Insaf Student Federation (ISF) and social media handlers.
Speaking during the assembly session, Dr Ibadullah claimed that even senior members of the party express dissatisfaction privately. His remarks triggered frequent interruptions from treasury members, leading to a tense atmosphere in the house.

Responding to the disruptions, the opposition leader said he was merely highlighting the government’s own actions, accusing it of providing a subsidy of Rs6 billion for the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project. Government member Dr Amjad repeatedly interrupted his speech, further escalating tensions.

As Dr Ibadullah continued, the assembly floor descended into chaos, with loud protests and cross-talk from both sides. He pointed out that the government has already presented two budgets, questioning its credibility. During this exchange, Special Assistant Shafi Jan interjected, referring to “Form 47,” prompting a sharp response from the opposition leader.

Dr Ibadullah retorted that he has been part of the assembly since before some of his critics entered politics, adding that those who have never even served as councillors were now attempting to lecture senior parliamentarians.
Challenging the ruling party, he dared PTI leaders to contest elections without relying on their party leadership.
