The Provincial Minister for Zakat, Ushr, Social Welfare, Special Education, and Women’s Development of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Syed Qasim Ali Shah, along with Secretary Social Welfare Syed Nazar Hussain Shah, Deputy Commissioner Lower Dir Muhammad Arif Khan, Director Social Welfare Rafiq Khan Mohmand, and District Officer Social Welfare Muhammad Zaib, inaugurated the new building of the Government Institute for Special Education for Hearing and Speech-Impaired Children in Timergara, Lower Dir.
Syed Qasim Ali Shah inspected various classrooms of the Special Education School in Timergara. Deputy Commissioner Lower Dir Muhammad Arif Khan, District Officer Social Welfare Muhammad Zaib Khan, and Child Protection Officer Tayyab Syed warmly welcomed the esteemed guest and presented him with the traditional white cap of Lower Dir. An honorary shield was also presented to the minister. The District Officer Social Welfare briefed the guest about ongoing projects.
Under the supervision of the Department of Social Welfare in Lower Dir, there are eight handicraft centers, one Special Education School in Timergara, a Special Education Complex in Kharkani Ouch, and a Drug Rehabilitation Center in Balambat.On this occasion, the chief guest, Syed Qasim Ali Shah, stated that the provincial government, in line with the vision of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, is striving to serve humanity in need. He acknowledged that there are shortcomings, needs, and challenges but emphasized that when there is a vision to move forward and solve problems, Allah’s help is assured.The minister expressed awareness of the challenges faced by the Social Welfare Department and stated that teamwork would overcome these challenges. He emphasized that worldly efforts would improve when humanity is also served, and the Department of Social Welfare remains committed to this mission. He announced that transportation facilities would be provided for the Special Education School, and the school would be upgraded to include education up to 10th grade.
To implement social welfare projects in Lower Dir, a joint plan will be devised in consultation with the elected representatives of the area, which will then be submitted to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for approval. He reiterated that children are our future, and special attention would be given to improve their well-being. He further stated that special children deserve our utmost care and attention, and their needs would be fulfilled beyond political considerations.Later, Syed Qasim Ali Shah, accompanied by MPA Humayun Khan, inaugurated the Special Education Complex in Chakdara and inspected its various sections. The District Social Welfare Officer provided a detailed briefing on the occasion. Syed Qasim Ali Shah appreciated the efforts of the District Administration of Lower Dir and the Department of Social Welfare.
