KP Food Safety & Halal Food Authority Disposes of Seized Substandard Food Items
The Mardan Division Food Safety teams of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety & Halal Food Authority have disposed of seized substandard and hazardous food items, including adulterated jaggery and edible goods, during various inspections, according to the Authority’s spokesperson.
Under the supervision of the Deputy Director of Operations, a total of 8,800 kg of substandard jaggery, 20 sacks of fried pops, and 500 kg of sauces and spices were destroyed, the spokesperson added.
The seized items were safely disposed of at a designated dumping site of WSSC Mardan, following the prescribed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Director General Wasif Saeed reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to public health, stating that businesses involved in the sale of substandard and hazardous food items will not be spared.
