SHANGLA — The Elementary and Secondary Education Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has decided to introduce a mobile application to modernize and streamline the attendance system of teaching and non-teaching staff in government schools across the province.

A formal notification has been issued to all District Education Officers (DEOs), both male and female, directing them to develop dedicated mobile applications for schools within their respective districts. The initiative aims to ensure timely, accurate and transparent recording of staff attendance.

According to officials, the proposed app will not be limited to marking daily attendance. It will also include modules for leave management, school visit monitoring and a reporting and analytics dashboard. Authorities say the additional features will allow district administrations to track leave records, official visits and overall performance indicators of staff members.

The department has emphasized the integration of modern technology and innovative solutions to make the system reliable, efficient and user-friendly. Officials believe digital monitoring can help reduce absenteeism and strengthen accountability in public sector schools.

All districts have been given a 30-day deadline to develop and submit their applications. District administrations may utilize existing staff or seek assistance from teachers and personnel with information technology and software development expertise. The department has encouraged local innovation to address district-specific challenges through customized digital tools.

After submission, a province-wide competition will be held to evaluate the applications based on innovation, effective use of technology, cross-platform compatibility, user interface and overall user experience. The winning application will be adopted as the official attendance system for government schools across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the development team will be recognized for its contribution.

Education officials said the initiative is expected to enhance transparency, improve discipline in schools and strengthen governance within the education sector, ultimately contributing to better service delivery in public institutions.
