ABBOTTABAD: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa clinched the title at the inaugural Pakistan Rising Star Muay Thai Championship, securing 15 gold and seven silver medals in a strong display of talent at the national-level event held in Abbottabad.
The championship was organised with the aim of identifying promising Muay Thai athletes from across Pakistan and providing them with a platform to demonstrate their skills.
More than 100 athletes representing seven teams from Sindh, Punjab, Azad Kashmir, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan participated in the championship.
Teams were formed by selecting top-performing players from different regions, bringing together emerging Muay Thai talent from across the country.
According to the final medal tally, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa secured first position with 15 gold and seven silver medals.
Sindh finished second with six gold and five silver medals, while Punjab claimed third position with four gold and three silver medals.
The organisers, Tahir Naqqash Jadoon and Khalid Khan of the Hazara Muay Thai Association, expressed their gratitude to all institutions, organisations, officials, athletes and individuals who contributed to the success of the championship.
They particularly acknowledged the support of the Pakistan Muay Thai Federation, The Muslim Education System Abbottabad, Commissioner Hazara, Regional Sports Office Abbottabad, Galyat Development Authority and Rescue 1122 Abbottabad.
The organisers also appreciated the contributions of senior journalist Tahir Mahmood, media representatives, Ms Romesh Saleem, Sardar Arsalan Zafar (Advocate), Sardar Zari Tabassum Habib, Hina Khan (Advocate), Syeda Aisha and Waqar Iftikhar Abbasi.
Officials from district sports organisations, participating athletes and team officials were also thanked for their support and cooperation.
The successful championship provided young athletes with an opportunity to compete at the national level while highlighting the growing interest and potential of Muay Thai in Pakistan.
