Peshawar: Barrister Dr. Saif, Advisor to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Information and Public Relations, has condemned the amendments to the PECA Act, added that the amendments are an attack on press freedom.
Barrister Dr. Saif accused the federal government of using black laws to strip the media of its freedom. He claims the government’s intention is to hide its dark deeds from the media. Barrister Dr. Saif also pointed out that the government has already attacked the judiciary’s freedom through the 26th amendment, and now it has taken away press freedom as well.
He emphasized that no institution has been spared from destruction under the federal government, with restrictions imposed that are even worse than those seen in the darkest dictatorships. Barrister Dr. Saif assured that he stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the journalist community against this black law.
