ISLAMABAD: The Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Muhammad Sohail Khan Afridi, has called for immediate access to former prime minister Imran Khan’s personal physicians, urging authorities to ensure comprehensive medical care without delay.

Speaking to media during a sit-in outside KP House in Islamabad, the chief minister said concerns had emerged regarding Khan’s health, including reports that his eyesight had been affected. He described the matter as serious and said it should be addressed on humanitarian grounds.

The chief minister said the situation should not be viewed through a political lens and emphasized the need for proper medical evaluation.

Two key demands

He outlined two primary demands: that Khan’s personal doctors be granted access alongside government-appointed doctors and family members, and that he receive evaluation and treatment from retina specialists if required.

Afridi said ensuring appropriate healthcare for detainees was a matter of legal and ethical responsibility.

He also referred to party leader Murad Saeed, stating that any future political decisions regarding protests or sit-ins would be considered carefully.

No immediate response from relevant authorities was available at the time of filing this report.
