PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has expressed concern over recent tensions along the Pak-Afghan border, saying the provincial government is closely monitoring the situation and remains in coordination with relevant institutions.
In a statement issued from Peshawar, the chief minister said safeguarding Pakistan’s territorial integrity is a national responsibility and that no compromise would be made on the security of border areas. He condemned what he described as provocation and external aggression along the frontier.
Afridi said the provincial administration is in continuous contact with security and federal authorities in view of the evolving situation. He assured residents of border districts that their protection remains a top priority.
The chief minister directed local administrations to remain on high alert and take necessary steps to ensure preparedness for any emergency. He added that measures are being implemented to safeguard life and property in affected areas.
Acknowledging public concerns, Afridi said the government stands with communities living near the border and will continue efforts to maintain peace and stability in the region.
