Korangi Town Clears Rs12 Million in Retired Employees’ Dues

KARACHI: Korangi Town Chairman Muhammad Naeem Sheikh distributed Rs12 million in Leave Preparatory Retirement (LPR) and ad hoc dues among approximately 65 retired District Municipal Corporation (DMC) employees who retired between 2018 and 2023.

The cheque distribution ceremony was attended by PPP Korangi District President Jani Memon, PPP Labour Bureau Korangi President Adnan Habib, elected local representatives, town officials, labour representatives, and retired employees.

Retired Employees Receive Long-Pending Dues

Addressing the ceremony, Chairman Muhammad Naeem Sheikh said retired employees had devoted years of service to the institution and deserved the timely payment of their outstanding benefits.

He praised Senior Accounts Officer Agha Shahzaib and Budget Officer Zohaib Akhtar for completing the payment process in a transparent and timely manner, describing their efforts as instrumental in ensuring the successful disbursement of the dues.

Administration Pledges Further Relief

The chairman said the current administration is working to resolve employees’ long-standing issues and described the distribution of LPR cheques as an important step in that process.

He also announced that work on group insurance payments is progressing and expressed hope that all remaining dues of TMC employees would be cleared within the next one to two months.

Muhammad Naeem Sheikh assured employees that no one would be deprived of their legitimate rights and that pending payments would continue to receive priority.

PPP Leaders Welcome the Initiative

PPP Korangi District President Jani Memon commended the chairman’s performance, saying the payment of long-pending retirement dues reflects the administration’s commitment to employee welfare.

PPP Labour Bureau Korangi President Adnan Habib also welcomed the initiative, noting that many retired employees had been waiting for their dues for several years. He described the assurance regarding group insurance and other pending payments as encouraging for employees.

Retired Employees Express Gratitude

At the end of the ceremony, retired employees thanked Korangi Town Chairman Muhammad Naeem Sheikh, PPP Korangi District President Jani Memon, and the town administration for releasing the long-awaited payments.

They expressed hope that the remaining retirement benefits would also be disbursed soon to provide complete relief to all eligible retirees and their families.
