PESHAWAR, Sunday, September 20, 2026: Khyber Medical College (KMC) concluded its Spirit Week in Peshawar with a colourful celebration of literature, arts and cultural diversity, as students showcased traditions from Pakistan and around the world while also expressing solidarity with the Palestinian people.
Organised by the Students Literary Society under the leadership of its chairperson, Dr Irum Sabir Ali, the week-long programme brought students together for activities designed to encourage creativity, cultural awareness and self-expression beyond the classroom.
The celebrations featured Pashto Culture Day, Urdu Literature Day, Global Village Day, Drama Day and English Day, with students participating in performances, literary activities and cultural presentations.
Pashto Culture Day highlighted the heritage, traditions, language and artistic expressions associated with Pashtun culture, while other activities gave students opportunities to demonstrate their literary, creative and communication skills.
Students showcase global cultures
Global Village Day emerged as one of the major attractions of Spirit Week, with students from different academic years representing countries through traditional clothing, food, jewellery, music and other cultural elements.
Organisers said the activity was intended to promote mutual respect and appreciation for cultural diversity among students.
Students also represented Palestine during the programme and expressed solidarity with the Palestinian people.
KMC faculty highlights role of co-curricular activities
Dean Khyber Medical College Prof Dr Mahmud Aurangzeb attended the concluding ceremony as chief guest.
Vice Dean Prof Dr Mohsin Shafi, Hospital Director Dr Sajjad Dawar, Medical Director Dr Awais Naeem, Dr Irum Sabir Ali and other faculty members were also present.
The college administration praised students for their participation, creativity and discipline throughout the celebrations.
Faculty members said co-curricular activities can complement medical education by helping students develop confidence, teamwork, leadership and interpersonal skills alongside their academic training.
The conclusion of Spirit Week brought together the programme’s themes of literature, cultural identity, creativity and international awareness, providing KMC students with a platform to engage with cultures and ideas beyond their regular medical studies.
