Islamabad: Kazakhstan’s President Kassym‑Jomart Tokayev arrived in Pakistan on Monday for a two‑day official visit, accompanied by a high‑level delegation of senior ministers and government officials.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif received the Kazakh leader at Nur Khan Airbase. During his stay, President Tokayev will hold meetings with Pakistan’s top leadership, with several memorandums of understanding and agreements expected to be signed to enhance cooperation across multiple sectors.

According to the Foreign Office, the visit provides both countries with an important opportunity to review bilateral ties and explore new avenues of collaboration, particularly in trade, logistics, regional connectivity, and people‑to‑people exchanges. Coordination at regional and international platforms will also be discussed.

The Foreign Office added that the visit reflects the growing strength of Pakistan–Kazakhstan relations, highlighting shared efforts to transform historical and cultural links into practical cooperation and a joint aspiration for peace and development in the region.

The statement recalled that in September, Pakistan and Kazakhstan signed an Action Plan of Cooperation during the visit of then Kazakh deputy prime minister Murat Nurtleu, aimed at deepening bilateral relations.
