Karachi Traffic Plan for Muharram Announced: Key Routes to Remain Closed During Processions

2 Min Read

Karachi traffic authorities have issued a special traffic plan for 8th, 9th, and 10th Muharram processions, announcing road closures and alternative routes to ensure smooth movement of citizens and maintain security during the religious events.

According to the traffic police, all three main processions will start from Nishtar Park and follow designated routes to their destinations. M.A. Jinnah Road will be completely closed to regular traffic during the processions.

Alternative routes and traffic diversions

Citizens have been advised to use alternative routes. Traffic coming from Nazimabad will be diverted via Lasbela Chowk, while vehicles on Shahrah-e-Faisal will be redirected toward Society Signal and other designated roads. Only vehicles with special permits or official stickers will be allowed on procession routes to maintain security and prevent unauthorized entry.

Enhanced security arrangements

Over 5,000 police personnel have been deployed across the city, with additional forces and reserve units stationed at sensitive locations. Expert snipers are positioned at critical buildings, and continuous search and sweep operations are underway. Citizens have been urged to report any suspicious activity immediately via helpline 15.

Authorities said that, under instructions from the Additional Inspector General Karachi, security measures have been further strengthened to provide full protection to Muharram processions and gatherings across the city.
