Karachi Matric Results Face Scrutiny Over Server Issues and Reported Errors

3 Min Read

Questions have emerged over the Karachi matric results after students and parents reported technical problems, incorrect records, and alleged errors following the announcement of the Class 10 annual examination results by the Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK).

Soon after the results were released, many users said the board’s website experienced repeated server outages, making it difficult for thousands of students to access their results. Parents and students also raised concerns on social media over alleged discrepancies in the published records, prompting the board to launch an inquiry.

Students Report Data Errors

According to complaints shared by students and parents, some candidates found incorrect roll numbers, mismatched personal details, or inconsistent results linked to the same roll number. Others claimed they were marked absent despite appearing in the examinations, while some reported that their result status changed from pass to fail or absent when checked at different times.

Sources also said that the roll number slips of several students were allegedly not uploaded or recorded correctly in the board’s online system, preventing them from viewing accurate results.

Board Orders Inquiry

The Chairman of the Board of Secondary Education Karachi said the matter has been taken seriously and directed an investigation into the reported technical issues. He stated that action would be taken if negligence by the board’s IT department is established.

The board has also set up a special help desk for affected students. Chairman Syed Musharraf Ali Rajput said students experiencing discrepancies should obtain the prescribed form from the board’s counter and submit it along with a screenshot of their online result. He said the issues would be resolved before the official mark sheets are issued.

Parents Seek Transparent Resolution

Parents say the issue extends beyond isolated cases and has affected a significant number of students. Many argued that accurate results are more important than releasing them quickly, especially because matriculation examinations play a key role in students’ academic progression.

Education observers also noted that technical problems, server outages, and record discrepancies have been reported during previous result announcements. They called for a comprehensive review of the board’s IT system to improve reliability and prevent similar issues in future examination cycles.
