A new WaliKa Hospital HIV outbreak case has been reported in Karachi after an 18-month-old child tested positive for HIV, bringing the total number of confirmed cases linked to the hospital to 95, according to the latest reported figures.
The latest case has renewed attention on the outbreak, which has primarily affected children. Reported figures indicate that nine of the infected children have died since the outbreak came to light.
18-Month-Old Child Among Latest Confirmed Cases
According to the child’s father, his 18-month-old son, Abdul Samad, received medical treatment at WaliKa Hospital in December 2025.
He said the child continued to experience health problems after treatment, prompting doctors to conduct an HIV test, which later confirmed the infection.
Family Plans Additional HIV Screening
The child’s father said he has five children and intends to have the remaining children tested for HIV to assess their health status.
Health authorities have not released additional details regarding the latest case beyond its confirmation.
Confirmed Cases Reach 95
With the latest diagnosis, the number of confirmed HIV cases linked to the WaliKa Hospital outbreak has risen to 95.
According to the reported figures, nine children affected during the outbreak have died. Authorities continue to monitor the situation and investigate the cases.
