The city recorded 40.7°C on September 21, making it Karachi’s hottest day for September since 2017, according to the weather report. Temperatures are expected to reach around 38°C today amid hot and humid conditions and mostly clear skies.
Hot and humid conditions continue
Sea breezes in Karachi are expected to blow at 15 to 35 kilometres per hour over the next 24 hours. Humidity is forecast to remain between 55% and 85%, which could add to the discomfort caused by the high temperatures.
The Meteorological Department said Karachi’s unusually high temperatures are linked in part to the early end of the monsoon season across the country, resulting in conditions more typical of October.
October may remain warmer than usual
According to the department, the influence of El Niño could contribute to above-normal temperatures in October as well.
The forecast suggests that Karachi residents may continue to experience warmer-than-usual weather into the coming month, although day-to-day temperatures will depend on prevailing atmospheric and coastal conditions.
