According to Indian media reports, popular figures including comedian Kapil Sharma, choreographer Remo D’Souza, actress Sindhu Mishra, and actor Rajpal Yadav received threatening emails. The police claim that the threats came from abroad.
The police have registered an FIR under section 351(3) of the BNS Act at Amboli police station and investigations are underway. The email contained a warning stating, “We are monitoring your recent activities and believe it is important to draw your attention to a sensitive matter.”
The email further mentioned, “This is not a publicity stunt or an attempt to harass you. We request you to treat this message with utmost seriousness and confidentiality.” The sender signed off as “Bishnu.”
The email demanded a response from these celebrities within eight hours, threatening them with both personal and professional consequences if they did not comply. Comedian Kapil Sharma recently filed a complaint with the police, followed by Sindhu Mishra and Remo D’Souza.
Rajpal Yadav received this email on December 14 of the previous year, and filed a complaint with the police on December 17. The email had initially appeared in his spam inbox. In an audio message, Rajpal Yadav told NDTV, “I have filed a complaint with Amboli police and the cyber crime department, and I haven’t discussed it with anyone else. I am an artist, and I just want to entertain the audience with my performance. The agencies will handle this matter.”
