Upper Swat Development Authority (USDA) has completed emergency repair work on the Jalband Gaheel Road in Kalam, a key route for tourists and locals, following heavy rains that rendered the road impassable. The restoration was carried out over 10 hours of continuous operation using heavy machinery. The repair work was initiated under the supervision of USDA Director General Adnan Abrar, acting on directives from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and Adviser on Tourism and Culture Zahid Chanzeb.
The damaged section of the road was cleared and restored, allowing for the resumption of traffic to the area. USDA spokesperson Saeedurrahman said the timely repair not only facilitated the smooth flow of tourism but also restored essential access for residents of the area. “The authority is committed to improving tourism infrastructure and supporting long-term development in the region,” he said. He added that the USDA, in collaboration with the provincial Department of Tourism and Culture, continues to undertake measures aimed at enhancing accessibility, ensuring safe travel, and promoting sustainable tourism. Officials hope such efforts will also contribute to the stability of the local economy. “The Jalband Gaheel Road connects several popular tourist spots in Kalam Valley and is often used by domestic and foreign visitors during the summer season,” he concluded.
