Timergara: An all-parties conference (APC) was organized by Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) Lower Dir at a local hotel in Timergara to address the region’s issues. Leaders from various political parties, the legal fraternity, journalists, traders, and civil society representatives participated. Speakers included JUI Lower Dir Ameer Sirajuddin, former provincial minister Muzaffar Syed Advocate, Qazi Ayazuddin, Pakistan Muslim League-N Lower Dir President Malik Farooq Iqbal, Jamaat-e-Islami Lower Dir General Secretary Shoaib Ahmed, former District Bar President Malik Sher Hayat Advocate, Pakistan People’s Party’s Nawabzada Irfan, Anjuman Tajiran President Haji Anwaruddin, Chamber representative Imran Khan, Dir Qaumi Pasoon’s Malik Shah Naseem Khan, ANP’s Malik Rashid Khan, Sarwar Khan, human rights activist Akbar Khan, and Printing Press Association President Ziaullah.The speakers expressed grave concerns over the provincial government’s neglect of development projects in Lower Dir, particularly in the district headquarters, Timergara. They criticized the delays in the Timergara Beautification Project and the suspension of work on the Balambat Family Park, alleging corruption and misappropriation of funds allocated for these projects. The poor drainage and sewerage systems, lack of clean drinking water, and the spread of diseases due to contaminated water were highlighted. They also pointed out the opening of eight CNG stations in the area, while residents remain deprived of domestic gas connections. The prolonged electricity load-shedding during the winter has disrupted daily life and businesses.
The speakers criticized the lack of medicines and treatment facilities in Timergara District Headquarters Hospital and irregularities in the Health Insaf Card scheme. They demanded that the inquiry initiated by the caretaker government into these irregularities be resumed. They urged the government to expedite the Timergara Beautification Project, provide funds and authority to the Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) and local representatives, and address the region’s pressing issues promptly.
