LAHORE: A Joint Investigation Team (JIT) has declared PML-N MPA Saqib Chadhar and his wife, Sameera, innocent in a case involving alleged harassment and threats against actress Momina Iqbal.
The development came during a hearing at a Lahore sessions court on Thursday, where the investigating officer told the court that the arrest of Saqib Chadhar and his wife was not required. Following the statement, both withdrew their interim bail petitions.
JIT Investigation
Additional Sessions Judge Nusrat Siddiqui heard the case. Advocate Adnan Ehsan represented Momina Iqbal, while Barrister Mian Ali Ashfaq appeared on behalf of Saqib Chadhar.
The investigating officer informed the court that the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) had transferred the investigation and formed a JIT to examine the case.
According to the investigating officer, the JIT found Saqib Chadhar and his wife not guilty during the investigation and determined that their arrest was not required.
Momina Iqbal’s Lawyer Raises Objections
Momina Iqbal’s lawyer objected to the investigation process, claiming that the NCCIA changed the investigating team without informing the actress’s legal counsel.
The lawyer also questioned how the new investigating officer could clear the suspects without conducting a complete investigation.
The case concerns allegations that Momina Iqbal was harassed and threatened. The latest court proceedings focused on the findings of the new investigation and the decision not to seek the arrest of Saqib Chadhar and his wife.
