PIND DADAN KHAN: District Police Officer (DPO) Jhelum, Shafiq Ahmed Chaudhry, and Deputy Commissioner Jhelum, Mir Raza Ozgan, visited the route of the central Muharram procession to assess security and administrative preparations ahead of the religious event.
Senior police and administrative officials, including SDPOs of City and Saddar Circles, the District Security Officer Jhelum, the SHO of Civil Lines Police Station, the SHO of City Police Station, and other concerned officers, accompanied the visit.
During the inspection, officials reviewed arrangements along the procession route and directed all relevant departments to ensure timely completion of security and logistical measures.
Coordination with utility departments
Authorities instructed officials to maintain close coordination with the Municipal Committee, WAPDA, Sui Gas, and PTCL to inspect, clear, and repair all installations and utility infrastructure located along the procession route.
The administration emphasized that any potential hazards or obstructions should be addressed before the procession to ensure public safety and smooth movement.
Enhanced security measures planned
Officials directed that metal detectors and walk-through gates be installed at all entry and exit points along the route. Participants will be permitted to join the procession only after undergoing security screening.
The DPO Jhelum also ordered the deployment of trained sharpshooters on high-rise buildings overlooking the procession route as part of the security plan.
He reiterated that comprehensive security arrangements would be put in place to ensure the safety of participants and maintain law and order during Muharram observances.
