Implemented by local NGO Sindh Community Foundation (SCF), the project aims to improve access to safe drinking water and sanitation facilities for communities facing inadequate water and sanitation services.
Six RO Plants, 82 Sanitation Facilities Constructed
Under the project, six reverse osmosis (RO) water filtration plants and 82 sanitation facilities have been constructed across the six villages.
The facilities are expected to improve public health and living conditions by providing residents with safer drinking water and better sanitation services.
Community Committees to Maintain Facilities
To support the long-term sustainability of the project, village-level maintenance committees have been established to oversee the operation and maintenance of the water filtration plants through community contributions.
Beneficiary families will also be responsible for maintaining and cleaning the sanitation facilities, according to the project details.
Japan’s Grassroots Support in Pakistan
The Government of Japan said it has implemented more than 400 projects in Pakistan through the GGP programme.
Japan said it would continue supporting community-level initiatives in areas including healthcare, education, water supply, sanitation and human security, while working with local partners to improve conditions for vulnerable communities and strengthen cooperation between Japan and Pakistan.
