LOWER DIR: Jamaat-e-Islami will hold massive protests in all districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on January 17 against the lack of reduction in electricity prices.
These views were expressed by Jamaat-e-Islami Khyber Pakhtunkhwa North Province Chief and former Provincial Minister for Local Government Inayatullah Khan while addressing a press conference at the District Press Club Timergara Lower Dir. Jamaat-e-Islami will hold massive protests in all districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on January 17 against the lack of reduction in electricity prices.
Inayatullah Khan further said that the direct benefit of the review of IPPs agreements should reach the people.
Because the government will save Rs 1.4 trillion by ending the IPP contracts. In this regard, the entire benefit of the savings should be transferred directly to the people. The same unit that generates electricity at the rate of Rs 5 per unit is being sold back to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by the center at Rs 70. Which is cruelty and injustice to the people here. Although the opportunity to generate seven thousand megawatts of electricity exists only in Malakand division. Inayatullah Khan also said that 98 percent of the work of the Koto Hydropower Project has been completed. Which will generate 40 megawatts of electricity. Unfortunately, despite giving an inauguration date six times, the Koto Project is not being activated. Former provincial minister and Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Khyber Pakhtunkhwa North Inayatullah Khan also expressed his determination that Jamaat-e-Islami will fight for public rights at every forum.
