Veteran Indian actor Jagapathi Babu has come out in support of actress Janhvi Kapoor amid online criticism surrounding her role in the film Peddy.
The controversy emerged after some viewers objected to certain scenes involving Janhvi Kapoor’s character, Achiama. The backlash sparked widespread debate on social media and prompted discussions about creative decisions in the film.
According to reports, criticism over the scenes led director Buchi Babu Sana to issue a public apology and remove the disputed sequences from the film.
Speaking about the controversy, Jagapathi Babu urged audiences to distinguish between criticism of a film and personal attacks on actors. He said performers work according to a director’s creative vision and should not be individually blamed for creative choices.
The actor stated that Janhvi Kapoor was performing a role as written and directed, adding that targeting an actor personally over such decisions was unfair.
“Please do not target the actress. Creative decisions are a collective responsibility and should not be placed on a single performer,” he said.
Praise for Ram Charan and the Film Team
During the film’s “Thank You Meet” event in Hyderabad, Jagapathi Babu also praised Ram Charan for taking on a challenging project and supporting the film through its release.
He further remarked that even negative reviews had contributed to public interest in the movie, suggesting that the attention generated additional visibility for the project.
The debate surrounding Peddy continues online, with audiences expressing differing views on the film’s content and creative direction.
