Italy will make their T20 World Cup debut in an all-European clash against Scotland in Kolkata, while Zimbabwe return to the competition in a closely watched match against Oman.

Later, action moves to Ahmedabad, where 2024 runners-up South Africa begin their campaign against Canada.

In the Kolkata fixture, Italy captain Wayne Madsen won the toss and opted to field first against Scotland.

Italy qualified for the tournament by finishing second in the T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier. Madsen said the team’s training camps in Dubai and Chennai had prepared them well for the global stage.

The Mosca brothers, Anthony and Justin, will open the batting, while the Manenti brothers, Harry and Ben, are set to bat at numbers five and six.
