LAHORE: JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman stressed that politics should not be based on revenge and called for solving problems through dialogue. Speaking to reporters, Fazl expressed faith in negotiations and said “Politicians should not be in jail”. He stressed the need for free and fair elections and criticized past political compromises and negative attitudes of politicians that made parliament ineffective. He reiterated his commitment to ideological politics and expressed concern over the lack of government forces in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He also questioned what he said was an undue focus on US President-elect Donald Trump, recalling that the region had witnessed America’s retreat.
