ISLAMABAD: Schools and colleges in Islamabad will remain closed for four days as the district administration has declared local holidays on April 9 and 10, extending into the weekend.
The closure follows a notification issued by the Office of the District Magistrate, Islamabad, covering areas within the Islamabad Capital Territory. With Saturday and Sunday already falling on the weekend, most educational institutions will remain shut for a total of four days.

Officials said that while the notification does not explicitly mention educational institutions, the declared holidays effectively apply to schools and colleges. Essential government offices and public service departments, however, will continue to operate as usual.
Administrative and security context
The decision comes amid heightened administrative and security arrangements in the federal capital ahead of expected high-level diplomatic activity.
Pakistan is reportedly preparing to host talks between the United States and Iran in Islamabad following a reported ceasefire between the two sides. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has welcomed the development and expressed readiness to facilitate dialogue.
Authorities have not announced any changes beyond the specified dates, and normal academic activities are expected to resume after the weekend.
