ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Healthcare Regulatory Authority (IHRA), in coordination with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), has sealed the Premium Diagnostic Center located in G-8 over alleged involvement in illegal kidney removal operations and organ trafficking.
According to reports, several doctors and assistants were arrested during the crackdown. Authorities stated that Saleem, an assistant to urologist Dr. Nadir Hussain and reportedly a partner in the diagnostic center, was also taken into custody.
Investigators allege that the accused were operating an illegal organ trade network targeting poor individuals from underdeveloped districts of southern Punjab, particularly Rahim Yar Khan and Dera Ghazi Khan. Victims were allegedly persuaded to sell their kidneys for small amounts, while the organs were later sold at much higher prices.
The FIA and health authorities have launched further investigations into the matter, while officials say more arrests may be expected as the probe expands.
