ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Kabaddi Association has appointed social and sports personality Rukhsanda Tasneem as vice president of its women’s kabaddi wing in a move aimed at promoting women’s participation in sports.

According to an official notification issued by the association, the appointment has taken immediate effect following approval from the president of the Islamabad Kabaddi Association. Rukhsanda Tasneem will perform her duties in accordance with the organization’s constitution, rules and policies.

The association said the decision was taken to encourage women’s kabaddi, support young female athletes and strengthen sports activities in Islamabad.

Focus on promoting women’s kabaddi

In its statement, the association said Rukhsanda Tasneem had previously played an active role in promoting women’s sports, encouraging athletes and participating in social welfare initiatives.

Sports circles welcomed the appointment and expressed hope that women’s kabaddi in Islamabad would continue to grow under her leadership. Experts said women’s kabaddi has gained popularity in Pakistan in recent years, though female players still require greater institutional support and opportunities.

According to sources, the Islamabad Kabaddi Association plans to organize training camps, competitions and awareness programmes for women’s kabaddi in the near future.

Speaking after her appointment, Rukhsanda Tasneem thanked the association’s leadership and said she would work to promote women’s kabaddi, identify emerging talent and help female players gain recognition at the national level.
