Islamabad:Omais Khattak President Islamabad Industrial Association, while welcoming the Proposed National Industrial Policy to be unveiled by the Federal Government in September, stated that this policy is an important step towards industrial growth, increasing exports, and creating employment opportunities in Pakistan.
He said that the business community has long been demanding a clear, long-term, and implementable industrial policy for the country. The government’s initiative in this regard is highly commendable.
Omais Khattak added that the proposed policy should focus specifically on SMEs, export-oriented industries, promotion of technology, and ease of doing business.
The Islamabad Industrial Association expects that government must Reduce the cost of electricity and gas to make industries competitive at the regional level.Ensure immediate issuance of tax incentives and refunds for export industries.Establish low-interest loans and a technology upgradation fund for SMEs.Eliminate business hurdles through a One-Window Operation.
The President IIA emphasized that the government should hold comprehensive consultations with business community organizations before finalizing the policy and make their proposals an integral part of it.
He further said that the Islamabad Industrial Association will extend every possible cooperation to the government for the implementation of this policy. However, the success of the policy depends on its consistent implementation and avoiding frequent changes in policies.
he expressed hope that this National Industrial Policy will play a key role in winning the “Battle for the Economy” and will put Pakistan on the path to industrial self-reliance.
