ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has ordered a stay of the Election Tribunal proceedings related to NA-46.

Chief Justice Aamer Farooq of the IHC presided over the hearing on the petition filed by PTI candidate Amir Mughal, represented by lawyer Faisal Fareed Chaudhry.

The court issued a stay order restraining the election tribunal from further hearing on Amir Mughal’s election petition.

Notices were also issued to interested parties seeking their responses. The registration office will schedule another meeting.

NA-46 seat is currently held by PML-N candidate Anjum Aqeel Khan. PTI’s Amir Mughal questioned the appointment of a new election tribunal.

Based on the court’s order, the tribunal cannot proceed with the cases involving the three constituencies of Islamabad.

Notably, Justice (R) Abdul Shakoor Paracha heard the appeal against the alleged irregularities in these constituencies.

The tribunal has scheduled a hearing for all three Islamabad constituencies, including NA-46, on December 24.

Earlier, the IHC had also issued orders to stay the proceedings of the Election Tribunal for NA-47 and NA-48 constituencies in Islamabad.
