Islamabad: In recognition of its exemplary performance in radiation safety and the highest standards of regulatory compliance, the Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority (PNRA) has awarded a Certificate of Appreciation to Islamabad Diagnostic Center (IDC). With this recognition, IDC has also earned the distinction of becoming Pakistan’s first diagnostic institution to receive such an honor from PNRA. The award was received by Professor Dr. Rizwan Uppal, Founder Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, and reflects the institution’s continued commitment to patient safety, the protection of operators and medical staff, and the full and effective implementation of national radiation laws and regulations.
It is pertinent to note that X-ray, CT scan, CBCT, mammography, OPG, and other radiology machines emit ionizing radiation, making robust safety and protection measures critically important for both patients and operators. In this regard, PNRA provides every institution with a comprehensive set of rules and regulations, compliance with which ensures the safety of both patients and operators. PNRA teams also conduct regular on-site and periodic inspections to ensure adherence to these regulations. At Islamabad Diagnostic Center, radiation safety is not merely a regulatory requirement but a sustained commitment to protecting both patients and staff.

It is a matter of great satisfaction that Islamabad Diagnostic Center is implementing all these rules and regulations with 100 percent compliance, and PNRA teams regularly inspect IDC’s facilities. This award from PNRA is a clear endorsement that IDC is ensuring the responsible and effective implementation of radiation safety and regulatory obligations.
Furthermore, Islamabad Diagnostic Center has installed state-of-the-art digital X-ray machines across all its branches, which emit one-third or even less radiation compared to conventional X-ray systems, making them significantly safer for patients. Although PNRA compliance may not be directly visible to patients, the reality is that not every institution adheres to regulatory requirements at the level and rigor with which IDC has adopted these principles.
Islamabad Diagnostic Center is the only medical diagnostic institution in Pakistan that possesses the largest number of MRI and CT scan machines in the country and operates a strong and comprehensive radiology network. The institution provides advanced diagnostic services including modern MRI, multi-slice CT scan, digital X-ray, ultrasound, mammography, dental OPG, and other cutting-edge diagnostic facilities, all of which are operated in accordance with PNRA-approved radiation safety standards.
Currently, IDC is providing quality radiology and laboratory diagnostic services through more than 160 centers in over 60 cities across Pakistan. Through a combination of advanced technology, experienced radiologists, robust quality assurance systems, and strict regulatory compliance, IDC is setting new benchmarks for diagnostic services nationwide.
This recognition by PNRA is a clear affirmation that Islamabad Diagnostic Center has emerged as a national benchmark institution for the provision of safe, reliable, and regulation-compliant diagnostic services, and will continue to play its role in promoting high standards in Pakistan’s diagnostic healthcare sector in the future.
