ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad district administration has announced a strict crackdown on unregistered online taxi and bike-hailing services, making formal registration mandatory for all drivers and vehicles operating in the federal capital.

According to an official statement shared on the social media page of the Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, authorities have decided to introduce a comprehensive registration framework under which complete records of drivers and vehicles will be collected to strengthen public safety and regulatory oversight.

The data gathered through the registration process will be accessible to Islamabad Police for verification and security purposes, the statement said.

Passenger identification required for every ride

Under the new rules, drivers will be required to upload passenger details on the service app before starting a trip. Carrying passengers without entering the passenger’s national identity card number will not be permitted.

Officials said the measure is aimed at improving passenger security, preventing misuse of ride-hailing platforms, and ensuring effective monitoring of online transport services across the city.

Registration to begin tomorrow

The district administration said the formal registration process will begin tomorrow, after which strict enforcement action will be taken against unregistered vehicles, bike services, and drivers.

Drivers associated with online ride-hailing platforms have been advised to complete the registration process promptly, as violations will result in legal action.
