NEW YORK, September 25 — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met President of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly Dr Khalilur Rahman in New York on Friday, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to multilateralism and the central role of the United Nations in addressing global challenges.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the UN General Assembly, where world leaders and senior diplomats have gathered for high-level engagements on international and regional issues.
Dar congratulated Dr Khalilur Rahman on assuming the presidency of the General Assembly and assured him of Pakistan’s full support and constructive engagement during his tenure, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The two discussed the importance of multilateral cooperation in responding to challenges facing the international community and exchanged views on matters of mutual interest.
Dar reiterated Pakistan’s support for the United Nations and its role as a key platform for international cooperation and collective responses to global issues.
He also expressed confidence in Dr Khalilur Rahman’s leadership of the General Assembly and assured him of Pakistan’s continued engagement in advancing the work of the UN body over the coming year.
The meeting was part of Dar’s diplomatic engagements on the sidelines of UNGA 81 in New York.
